Happy Halloween 2017!

Trick or treat, Groove-ophiles! Well, actually, you don't have to go door to door--Ol' Groove's got your Halloween goodies right here! All you have to do is keep on scrollin', baby!

Let's kick things off with a short shocker from Atlas/Seaboard's Tales of Evil #2 (December 1974)! Let's tiptoe through the graveyard with Russ Jones (as Jack Younger) and Jerry Grandenetti as we go on a "Stake Out!"

Now let's lighten the mood with a sweet little tale featuring Wendy the Good Little Witch in "The Awful Ingredient" from Spooky Haunted House #2 (September 1972)...

Halloween is all about creepy things--so here's a treat from Charlton's Creepy Things #1 (April 1975)! Let's follow Tom Sutton down "The Well!"

And for our big treat of the day, how 'bout we go on an Adventure (Comics #438, December 1974) with Michael Fleischer, Ernie Chua (Chan), and Jim Aparo as..."The Spectre Haunts the Museum of Fear!"

Whew! Hope you're not too stuffed and your teeth aren't rotted from all these groovy goodies, Groove-ophiles! Happy Halloween!

Marvel-ous Monday: "Within the Swamp, There Stirs...a Glob!" by Thomas and Trimpe

Greetings, my Groovy Ghoulies! We're gonna Hulk out today with Roy Thomas and Herb Trimpe's love letter to the great Golden Age character, The Heap! Way back in Incredible Hulk #121 (August 1969), Ol' Jade Jaws met up with The Glob, forerunner to the soon to rock the Groovy Age characters Swamp Thing and Man-Thing. Now that Ol' Groove thinks about it, this comic is even more special to moi, 'cause it was the first Incredible Hulk comic Li'l Groove ever got! Man, I started out on a cool one! This particular version of the story, by the by, is scanned from Marvel Treasury Edition #17 (April 1978). Dig it (but don't bury it)!

Making a Splash: The Haunted Batman

HooOOOOwww's it going, Groove-ophiles! Like Ol' Groove promised, here are some Halloween-ish splashes from Batman's very own mag by some of the greatest comicbook artists ever. You'll notice that the splashes in Batman's own mag could be just as haunting and as moody as his splashes in Detective. There were some downright gothic splashes in Batman, and Ol' Groove's found 'em for ya, baby!
